Middle Swan Residential Care offers a harmonious blend of expert care for elderly Western Australians and the utmost comfort in living. Conveniently located in the heart of Middle Swan, this exceptional facility allows residents to soak up the scenery of the area while making the most of its comprehensive facilities and services.
Residents and visitors are met with an eloquently designed foyer, where friendly staff are ready to welcome and assist. The open layout is accentuated by the grand staircase, leading to where residents reside in the upper floors. This warm yet sophisticated entryway only serves to set the tone for the rest of the facility.
The conveniently accessible living spaces have been designed with the comfort and well-being of residents in mind. Individuals with varying mobility needs can benefit from thoughtfully planned spacious areas and accessible furnishings.
Adjoined to the living spaces and rooms with courtyard access, residents can enjoy sunshine and fresh air in these outdoor areas. Spacious and thoughtfully designed, these courtyards are pleasant and mobility device friendly.
Common areas are designed not only with convenience and mobility in mind, but to foster a sense of belonging and community amongst residents.
Sitting rooms and activity spaces encourage residents to gather, engage in conversations, and participate in various recreational activities together. Well-placed windows allow natural light to flood in and create an inviting and warm atmosphere.
A communal dining area allows residents to enjoy meals together. Flexible seating arrangements accommodate different mobility needs, including wheelchair-accessible seating.
Resident Rooms
Middle Swan Residential Care offers 120 new resident rooms that provide a charming and personalised living space. Various suite packages are available that cater to varying needs and preferences of the residents.
All rooms come with an en suite bathroom, with the option to choose a room with courtyard or balcony access.
The Diamond+ Suite provides couples an opportunity for shared living with a dual bedroom, a second attached room and individual en suites.
All bedrooms come furnished with Unicare’s Xcel floorline bed.
The Unicare Xcel floorline bed is a feature-packed electric profiling bed designed to prioritise comfort and safety. This bed offers numerous clinical advantages, configuration options, and the ability to be lowered to the floor.
These beds are designed to ensure:
- Resident and caregiver safety
- Falls prevention
- Pressure injury prevention
- Functional independence and mobility
- Ease of manual handling requirements
The bed features a user-friendly handset, integrated bed extension, a vertical lift that eliminates space between the wall and the head of the bed, high quality Linak motors to ensure smooth and exceptional performance.
This is one of the first floorline nursing care beds on the market that can be fitted with a range of side guards. This feature addresses the mobility and falls prevention needs of the residents.
These Xcel Floorline beds have been paired with the Optimal 5zon pressure care mattresses from Care of Sweden. Clinically proven to provide effective pressure care and resident comfort, these mattresses are equipped with a patented DuoCore sit function, designed to give support when sitting in bed and ensure comfort when lying down.
Anti-shear inner covers enhance user comfort and skin integrity protection. The mattress cover is autoclavable to temperatures up to 95°C and comes with a very well documented hygienic standard. Being a sustainable product, the Optimal 5zon is produced from modern, recyclable materials and meets health care requirements for hygiene, quality and safety. The covers can be supplied with side handles for multi-story evacuation requirements, eliminating the need for evacuation sheets.
A range of other safety and mobility equipment, such as seat walkers, hoists, regency care chairs, and wheelchairs were selected to meet the resident needs.
Bath and Toileting Solutions for Aged Care
The resident’s spacious private en suites were designed to accommodate the selected shower chairs and JUVOcare shower commodes.
Manufactured using 304 grade stainless steel, these durable commodes are designed to withstand extensive wet area use. They are highly adaptable commodes designed to be easily custom configured to suit the needs of individual users.
Project Delivery
The Middle Swan Residential Care project required months of planning and meticulous coordination to ensure materials, supplies and equipment from local and global suppliers arrived on schedule.
Unicare Health was involved in the design phase from the start, working with the projects team to match residents’ clinical needs to the aesthetic of interior design.
To provide Middle Swan Residential Care with a streamlined equipment delivery solution and to minimise installation work on site, all furniture, fixtures, and equipment were unboxed, assembled, tested, tagged, and stored in our Bentley warehouse before being transported to Middle Swan in stages to accommodate the fit-out progress.
Ongoing Equipment Support and Maintenance with Unitrax
Ongoing equipment support and maintenance is managed by Unitrax – Unicare’s very own cloud-based asset management system.
Care staff can report any equipment issues by scanning a unique QR code, which informs Unicare’s support department about what equipment requires attention, where the equipment is located, its service history, and other information. This saves care staff time and effort in looking for a serial or model number or describing the problem over the phone. Care staff can upload photos and videos, view user manuals and even troubleshoot problems with technicians over video chat.
Unitrax has also proven to be an invaluable tool for aged care providers to monitor equipment value, track service histories, keep tabs on maintenance costs, as well as prepare budget and audit reports.
