At Unicare Health, we’re proud to host educational training sessions and open showroom sessions for occupational therapists and allied health professionals. These interactive events provide a valuable opportunity for healthcare staff to explore the latest assistive technology solutions, learn about their clinical features and benefits, and enhance their equipment skills and confidence. Recently, we hosted a team of early career occupational therapists (OTs) from SuperYou Therapy at our Assistive Technology Collaboration Centre. This showroom visit and training session helped to enhance their equipment skills and boost their professional confidence.

We recently hosted an open showroom session for Superyou therapists in our new showroom and experience hub. This immersive space showcases a wide range of assistive technology designed for home and healthcare settings.
Our clinical educators, Annette Dumble and Ilissa Liew, guided SuperYou therapists through an engaging, hands-on tour. They expertly demonstrated the clinical benefits of equipment solutions in a way that younger therapists could grasp and enjoy.
Ilissa began by highlighting the clinical features and benefits of nursing care beds and pressure care mattresses. She demonstrated how different positioning options, such as knee break, Trendelenburg, and reverse Trendelenburg, can enhance pressure care management using the features and functions of the Xcel 2 and Xcel floorline nursing beds. These versatile and functional beds significantly improve the quality of care for a diverse range of clients, leading to better clinical outcomes.
Attendees were treated to a refreshing break for morning tea.
Fueled by a warm mug of Nespresso, and a delectable Krispy Kreme donut, they eagerly listened as Annette shared her wheelchair selection expertise. She delved into the features and special considerations that should be considered, highlighting versatile options like the Ansa Tourer and the multi-adjustable Breezy Basix models.
Annette’s insights helped attendees to understand the importance of individual user needs, health requirements, and environmental factors, empowering them to make informed decisions and select the best wheelchairs for their clients. This engaging and informative session gave attendees the knowledge and skills they needed to ensure their clients’ comfort, mobility, and independence.
Attendees explored into the diverse world of shower commodes, examining a range of attendant-propelled, self-propelled, and tilt-in-space models. Together, we learned how to select the most suitable shower commode to promote postural stability, skin protection, and functional ability, tailored to the client’s unique environment and abilities.
Following the educational session, attendees had the opportunity to explore our variety of home care products with our clinical educators who provided personalised assistance and advice.
With the valuable knowledge gained from this informative session, the Superyou team left feeling well-equipped and confident in their ability to deliver exceptional quality care to their clients.
