The University Club of Western Australia, Crawley
Working in the industry that Unicare Health operates in, we have the privilege of closely observing the life-changing work that occupational therapists do every day.

Occupational Therapy is a profession that can bring purpose, confidence, and independence back into a person’s life through creativity, empathy, and innovation. That’s why Unicare Health was proud to once again support this incredible profession as the platinum sponsor of the WAOTA OT Week Breakfast 2025.

On the morning of October 24th, the foyer of the University Club of Western Australia was buzzing with energy as occupational therapists from across the state gathered to share a delicious breakfast before starting their Friday. It was a joy to reconnect with familiar faces over coffee and conversation before the formalities began.

As usual, Bec Kevill opened the morning with a warm welcome, bringing together OTs from a wide range of practice areas to celebrate their shared passion for improving lives. A hearty breakfast followed, setting the perfect tone for the keynote presentation.

This year’s guest speaker, Heidi Brandis, delivered a personal and insightful address on Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Drawing from her experiences as both a mother of a now 23-year-old neurodivergent adult and a former occupational therapist turned full-time carer, Heidi shared how her family’s journey illuminated gaps in therapeutic understanding and inspired her to advocate for greater awareness. Her heartfelt message resonated strongly with everyone in the room, a testament to her dedication and passion in supporting families navigating similar paths.

Then came one of the most anticipated parts of the morning… the raffle draw!

Five lucky attendees walked away with prizes including fine wines and gins, adding a touch of excitement to an already inspiring morning.

Before heading off, each guest received a custom-designed Unicare showbag, created especially for the occasion and thoughtfully curated with OTs in mind.

What another wonderful event to celebrate the OT profession. Thank you to WAOTA for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful occasion and to express our gratitude to the occupational therapy community, a group that continues to shape the future of Australian healthcare in countless ways.

Happy OT Week 2025 to all the incredible OTs out there!
