WAOTA OT Week Breakfast
Friday, 25 October 2024
Pagoda Resort and Spa, Como
As the platinum sponsor of the Western Australia Occupational Therapy Association (WAOTA) OT Week Breakfast, we were thrilled to support this inspiring annual event that brought together occupational therapists from across the state. The 2024 breakfast, held on Friday, October 25th at the Pagoda Resort and Spa in Como, was an enlightening and energizing morning for all attendees.

A Gathering of Passionate Professionals
The breakfast event served as a pivotal gathering for occupational therapists in Western Australia, offering a unique platform for professionals to network, learn, and celebrate the essential contributions of OTs within our communities.

This occasion highlighted the importance of collaboration among occupational therapists and fostered a sense of unity and shared purpose in advancing the field of occupational therapy.

This year's theme, "Bringing Passion, Purpose, and Possibility through Occupation," beautifully encapsulates the core mission of occupational therapy. It emphasizes the transformative impact that occupational therapists have on individuals, empowering them to live life to the fullest.

A Morning of Inspiration and Connection
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Bec Kevill, setting a positive tone for the morning.

Following this, Sandra Kevill, treasurer of WAOTA, introduced the board and members, acknowledging their contributions.

Keynote Address: Revolutionizing Care Through Occupation
Attendees were honoured to hear from keynote speaker Elizabeth Oliver, who presented her innovative approach to transforming the dining experience for older adults in residential care. As a key figure in Maggie Beer's Big Mission, Elizabeth illustrated how the power of occupation can significantly enhance seniors' quality of life.

Her work emphasizes that mealtimes are about more than nutrition; they aim to create a personalized and engaging environment in aged care homes. Her speech inspired occupational therapists to embrace roles as change agents, promoting proactive, person-centred care that ignites passion and purpose in the lives of older adults.

Unicare Health: Committed to Supporting OTs
As the platinum sponsor, we were proud to contribute to this event's success and demonstrate our commitment to the occupational therapy profession. We recognise the vital role that occupational therapists play in enhancing individuals' quality of life. By supporting initiatives like the WAOTA OT Week Breakfast, we strive to promote professional development, inspire innovation, and ultimately improve outcomes for clients throughout Western Australia.

Looking Ahead
The WAOTA OT Week Breakfast was a vibrant celebration, bursting with energy and enthusiasm for the incredible work done by occupational therapists! More than just a meal, this event was a joyful gathering that highlighted the passion, purpose, and possibilities that OTs bring to their communities every single day.

As the proud platinum sponsor, we were thrilled to contribute to this spirited occasion, helping to forge stronger connections within the OT community. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter and camaraderie as attendees shared stories and celebrated their collective achievements.

We extend our gratitude to other sponsors - ECU, Guild Insurance, Motobility, and Grafton - for their contributions to this important event. Together, we helped build a stronger, more connected OT community ready to tackle tomorrow's healthcare challenges.

Here’s to a successful OT Week 2024 and to the incredible work of occupational therapists everywhere! We can't wait to see what next year’s OT Week will bring!
