Every year, OT week celebrates the hardworking professionals across Australia who are the backbone of the industry. The WA Occupational Therapy Association made the week a wonderful time this year by organising a range of events, and the highly anticipated OT week breakfast.
Unicare Health is proud to be a long-standing supporter and platinum sponsor of OT Week. Supporting and strengthening the continually evolving world of occupational therapy is essential to fostering health and well-being, and building a stronger community for everyone.
For this year’s OT week, we put the spotlight on the hardworking people behind the profession. In a time when people increasingly rely on computers and technology to tell them what to do, face-to-face connection is all the more critical. Our theme this year was: “I’m an OT. Google can’t do my job.”
This year’s breakfast was a big success. Keynote speaker Dr Kylie Wales delivered her address to a room of fascinated OTs.

Dr. Wales, a highly experienced OT, is currently conducting research to reimagine assessment techniques in order to facilitate improvements in clients’ outcomes. Occupational Therapy Australia recently acknowledged her as a leading early career researcher and awarded her the 2021 Early Career Researcher Award. She has also been invited to participate in the University of Newcastle’s Early and Mid-Career Women’s Development Program.
The Unicare Health team was inspired by Dr. Wales’ speech. They also enjoyed a delicious breakfast served by the Pagoda Resort. It was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends new and old across the Western Australian OT community.
Pearl Chan, head of marketing at Unicare Health, took to the stage to draw the winners of the breakfast raffle. Four lucky OTs were happy to walk away with prizes, including high-quality drinks and a stay at the Pagoda resort!
