Occupational Therapy Week (OT Week) celebrates the wonderful Occupational Therapy (OT) profession and raises awareness of the many ways in which OTs help people realise their full potential.
The WA Occupational Therapy Association (WAOTA) is the peak body representing and supporting over 750 occupational therapists in Western Australia (WA).
WAOTA’s OT Week breakfast event at the Pagoda Resort & Spa was cheerful beyond a doubt and bursting with wonderful sounds of Occupational Therapists in merriment.
This years celebratory breakfast, which was was another sold-out event, was indicative of how passionate OTs in WA are about coming together to celebrate this amazing profession as a group.
The theme, “Because of OT I can,” honoured the accomplishments brought about by the vital work that occupational therapists do while also providing an opportunity to reflect on how the sector has persevered through difficulty and uncertainty over the past two years to produce some truly amazing results.
Two special guests were invited by WAOTA to speak at the breakfast this year.
Emma Gee discussed how her occupational therapy skills contributed to her recovery as a stroke survivor.
Annete Barton discussed the lessons she learned from working as an OT at different points in her career.
Both speakers shared extremely inspiring stories.
