Celebrating WA’s Inspiring OTs at the 2025 WAOTA Awards Night
WAOTA Awards Night
Saturday, 6 September 2025
The University Club of Western Australia, Crawley

On 6 September, Unicare Health was proud to sponsor the awards night that celebrates the life-changing work of occupational therapists across Western Australia.

If you ask an occupational therapist (OT) what their day looks like, chances are they’ll tell you there’s no such thing as a “typical” schedule. Every day brings its own unique challenges and opportunities. From supporting newborns to seniors over 100, OTs work tirelessly to design practical, creative solutions that make life easier for their clients.

The Western Australian Occupational Therapy Association (WAOTA) Awards Night is a chance to pause, say thank you, and shine a well-deserved spotlight on the therapists making waves in the OT world.

At Unicare, we work closely with OTs every day and see firsthand the care and dedication they pour into their profession. That’s why we’re honoured to partner with WAOTA to celebrate their achievements, and delighted to sponsor such a prestigious event.

This year’s celebration took place at The University Club of Western Australia. With a glass of bubbles in hand, it was wonderful to mingle with the very therapists we normally collaborate with at lightning pace. Instead of problem-solving on the go, we got to slow down, laugh, and share stories together. The ever-entertaining Cassie Silver set the tone as MC, launching us into a night to remember.

And what a line-up of winners it was!

New Graduate of the Year – Carmen Tang
Recognised for her outstanding clinical practice, commitment to learning, and leadership qualities, Carmen works with children at ABC Therapy, a mobile OT and physiotherapy service in Perth.

Rural and Remote OT of the Year – Adam Crisp
Awarded for his dedication to his rural community and his efforts to advance occupational therapy in regional WA. Though Adam couldn’t attend due to his community commitments, the award was proudly accepted on his behalf by Kellie Briggs, Chief Operations Officer.

Clinical Excellence Award – Erryn Siva
Honoured for her exceptional work in enabling lymphoedema patients in remote areas to access treatment closer to home. Erryn represents Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital with distinction.

OT Entrepreneur of the Year – Jodie Watts
Celebrated for reshaping how OT services are delivered, and making a meaningful impact across the profession.

OT Employer Excellence of the Year – Down South Therapy
Recognised as a workplace of excellence, their inspiring approach continues to make a lasting impact on the OT profession.

The Lorna Sherlock Award – Jodie Watts (again!)
Jodie was back on stage for a second personal award, acknowledging over 15 years of exceptional work in OT and her ongoing role in nurturing and encouraging others in the profession. This award was proudly presented by Unicare’s very own Pearl Chan.

Life Member Award – Vera Riley
Awarded in recognition of over 15 years of consistent and outstanding service to WAOTA. Though Vera couldn’t join us on the night, her contributions were warmly acknowledged and celebrated.

It was an absolute pleasure to be part of such a special evening that honours the hard work and heart OTs bring to the lives of Western Australians every day. At Unicare Health, we remain committed to being the supplier therapists can count on for quick support, caring service, and a genuine partnership in making life better.
