The Seniors and Carers Expo is the City of Rockingham‘s largest annual seniors event.
The expo, which draws thousands of visitors each year as a result of its popularity and demand, offered seniors and caregivers an excellent opportunity to connect with over a hundred senior groups, organisations, government departments, and businesses, as well as learn about the resources and support available to them.
Unicare Health was delighted to be a Gold Sponsor of this event, which drew Perth seniors from across the Perth metro and Peel region.
Unicare Health’s #safeseniors booth was welcomed at the show, to raise the awareness of Assistive Technology (AT) to help seniors live safely and independently at home.
AT provides practical solutions to help seniors do things easier and safer around the house. Some examples include mobility walkers, automatic kitchen gadgets, showering, toileting, and dressing aids.
The Unicare Health team enjoyed a fun day showing Rockingham seniors how to utilise AT, such as bathroom safety products, helpful kitchen gadgets, and a variety of everyday living aids designed to help seniors carry out daily living tasks safely and independently.
It was a joy to see returning expo attendees at our #safeseniors booth and listen to their positive experiences using assistive technology at home.
The all-new Viva Seat Walker was the star at our #safeseniors booth. Featuring a depth adjustable backrest, push button height adjustable handles, wider padded seat, and modern, shiny rose gold finish, the Viva Walker was a definite stunner and referred to as the Rolls-Royce of walkers. Seat walkers like the Viva promotes safe & independent mobility and can be easily folded for transport and storage.
Many seniors were attracted to our mobility scooters on display. Llew spoke to seniors about the different Shoprider models, features to look out for, the rules and regulations for scooters on the road, what models are allowed on Transperth buses and trains, as well as various accessories and customisation options.
Other AT presented at our #safeseniors booth that drew the attention of many passers-by were our innovative kitchen gadgets such as the one-touch automatic bottle opener, one-touch automatic can opener and one-touch automatic jar opener.
Everyone enjoyed watching how these little gadgets open open tight fitting bottle tops and cut through cans effortlessly! These innovations are ideal for those challenged with arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome.
Other AT that drew attention from seniors included the Handy Bar and the AutoSlide Transfer, which provide an easy transition and stable support for seniors to get in and out of a car, stocking aids that make putting on socks on and off simpler, button hooks and zipper pulls for users with limited dexterity due to arthritis, and many others.
Everyone was awed at the various supports and products at our #safeseniors booth, available for them to do things more independently and safely around the house.
