Astley Care Open Day 2022
Wednesday, 19 October 2022
23 Astley St, Gosnells
Our friends at Astley Care hosted their annual Open Day and we were so excited to be a part of it!
On a special day every year, Astley Care opens its doors to the community, inviting everyone to learn more about Aged Care.
We were delighted to be invited as a preferred provider and supplier of aged care equipment for Astley Care’s clients.
Astley Care is a non-for-profit organisation, offering community aged care services in the Gosnells and Armadale areas for over 37 years. As a respected provider of quality supports and services to enable seniors to remain living in their own homes for as long as possible, Astley Care offers a wide range of tailored and flexible services to help seniors stay as independently as possible.

Astley’s Home Care Co-ordinators work closely with Unicare Health to help clients improve their independence and quality of life through assistive technology.
Unicare Health’s #safeseniors booth was welcomed at Astley Care’s Open Day, to raise the awareness of Assistive Technology (AT) to help seniors live safely and independently at home.
AT provides practical solutions to help seniors do things easier and safer around the house.
Some examples include mobility walkers, automatic kitchen gadgets, showering, toileting, and dressing aids.
#safeseniors events and activities are designed to increase older adults’ knowledge and understanding of AT, allowing them to make an informed decision about implementing these solutions to overcome healthcare challenges and participate in their own daily activities.
For instance, demonstrating how to use a tipping kettle to someone with Parkinson’s disease or finger arthritis will give them the confidence to safely make their own cup of coffee every morning, without the need to lift a boiling kettle.
The Unicare Health team enjoyed a fun day showing seniors how to utilise AT, such as bathroom safety products, helpful kitchen gadgets, and a variety of everyday living aids designed to help seniors carry out daily living tasks safely and independently.
Attendees had fun playing with innovative kitchen gadgets such as the one-touch automatic bottle opener, one-touch automatic can opener and one-touch automatic jar opener that performs these handy kitchen jobs without any human intervention. These little gadgets open tight fitting bottle tops and cut through cans effortlessly! Ideal for those suffering from arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome, these aids make life easier for anyone using them.
Those with limited dexterity due to arthritis also also learned how to use stocking aids to make putting on socks easier, and button hooks and zipper pulls to make dressing actions simpler.
Everyone was surprised at the various supports and products at our #safeseniors booth, available for them to do things more independently and safely around the house.
Thank you
