The Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is home to a team of dedicated medical and biological research scientists, making strides towards a healthier future for all children.

Founded in 1958 through funds raised by Australia’s first telethon and a large public campaign, CMRI has since grown into a leading independent organisation. Today, over 200 scientists are working to make the incurable curable. With 1 in 20 children needing treatment for a genetic disease, every dollar raised by the CMRI Foundation for research is critical.
The Jeans for Genes campaign first launched in 1994 to support Australia’s first gene therapy clinical trial for genetic disease. In the 31 years since, Australians have raised an incredible $65.7 million for the Foundation, funding invaluable research that is changing the future.
This year, Jeans for Genes Day fell on Thursday, 7th August, marking Unicare Health’s 9th year of joining in on the denim fun!
We are proud to announce that the Unicare team raised a total of $4,303, the equivalent of funding 86 hours of research towards finding cures for children with genetic diseases.
The effort didn’t stop there. Our staff baked up a storm, sharing a delicious morning tea with colleagues in celebration of the fundraising. From savoury bites to warm chocolate treats, there wasn’t a hungry belly left in the Unicare building. 😆
We are incredibly grateful for the team’s efforts and generosity in supporting this cause. Every dollar makes a difference in advancing this life-changing research.
