Jeans for Genes Day
Fundraising Morning Tea
Friday, 6 August 2021
Jeans for Genes Day is a national fundraiser held in Australia. Jeans for Genes was founded by the Children’s Medical Research Institute in 1994.
1 in 20 kids faces a birth defect or genetic disease, like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and life-threatening metabolic disorders. That’s 12 kids born every minute worldwide!
Jeans for Genes raises funds to finance research into treatments and cures, as well as awareness and knowledge of genetics and what it means to live with a genetic condition.
Kids just want to be kids, but instead of playing sports with their friends or catching butterflies on a sunny day, these kids are getting liver transplants, taking dozens of medications, or getting their next dose of chemotherapy.
No child’s life should be cut short, and we have the power to change “incurable” to “curable” through supporting Jeans for Genes.
The Jeans for Genes fundraising morning tea has become a tradition at Unicare Health and a much-anticipated annual event. It is the only day of the year we swap our Unicare pink for blue denim and enjoy a scrumptious morning tea dressed in blue.
The whole office participates – not just with eating, but also donating generously to the cause and sharing recipes to create an amazing table of treats.
Morning tea fundraisers at Unicare Health are always an amazing display of teamwork and a tremendous effort put together to reach our fundraising goals.
We are thrilled to have raised $1043 this year and trust that our donations will enable more children living with genetic diseases to experience an enjoyable childhood.
