Unicare steps out in denim to raise funds on Jeans for Genes Day 2023

Jeans for Genes Day is a National Fundraiser dedicated to Aussie kids affected by serious genetic diseases.
The Jeans for Genes Campaign was launched in 1994 by Australia’s first dedicated pediatric research organization – the Children’s Medical Research Institute.
Globally, 12 kids with birth defects or genetic diseases are born every minute. That’s 1 in 20 kids.
Through Jeans for Genes, we can enable scientists at Children’s Medical Research Institute to find treatments and cures for the “incurable”.
The Unicare team exchanged their pink uniforms for blue on Friday 4th August.
Bedecked in their fanciest denim following an evening of baking and preparing, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of anticipation for a ‘more than care’ morning tea.
Our taste buds couldn’t be happier with the time and love that was put into whipping up the most scrumptious treats.
At Unicare, we see many children affected by serious genetic diseases, making this topic close to our hearts.
Our team demonstrated their kindness and compassion for this fundraising cause by collectively donating well past our $1,000 goal.
Thanks to the collective effort of our compassionate staff, we managed to raise a whopping $1,611. This is a testament to our ‘more than care’ values – well done everyone!
We decided to add some extra fun to this year’s fundraiser with some friendly competition! With so many fantastic baked goods and treats on display, we decided to let the people decide the best of the best.
It was a close call, but the undeniable champion of the Best Treat was Christina Chu!
With her delectable Apple Strudel, the victory was well deserved.
But the fun didn’t stop there! We also nominated our best-dressed colleague.
Everyone had so much fun showing off their best denim and blue, but one staff member gave us all a good laugh – Ben! His “Something Blue” ensemble was unexpected and creative. We agreed he deserved the fashion icon title.
We enjoyed a terrific Jeans for Genes day, preparing delicious treats, dressing up in our most spectacular blue outfits, and donating generously to a good cause.
Not only did we raise the equivalent of 29 hours of funding for research, we also created some wonderful memories of another fantastic Unicare event.
