Unicare Installs Ceiling Hoist Systems at Ability WA, with a Focus on Portability and Coverage
Ability WA - South Hub
Level 3, Tower B
48 Barry Marshall Pde, Murdoch 6150
We are excited to showcase our ceiling hoist installation at Ability WA's new services hub in Murdoch. This new accessible hub, located in the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct provides a convenient location for people living with disabilities to access a comprehensive range of services.
Project Overview
Ability WA, a cornerstone of support for Western Australian families for over 70 years, has established this new hub as part of their commitment to providing excellent disability services for the community.
The hub covers more than 1,000 square metres and includes an office, a therapy centre, space for community and employment services, and administrative offices. It is conveniently located close to public transport and nearby health services, including Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Luna Ceiling Hoist System
Unicare installed the versatile Luna ceiling hoist system throughout the hub. This sophisticated lifter offers dual functionality as both a fixed and portable overhead lifter in a single unit, providing unparalleled flexibility for various rooms and lifting needs
One of the Luna's standout features is its dual functionality as both a fixed and portable overhead lifter in a single unit. This versatility allows it to be easily adapted to different rooms and lifting needs, making it a cost-effective solution for care facilities. A trolley can facilitate easy movement of the unit between different rooms and applications. This significantly increases the flexibility of the hoist system, allowing it to be used in multiple locations without the need for permanent installation in each space.
A wall-mounted charging station allows the Luna to be easily charged by simply placing the hand control into the holder attached to the wall.
XY Ceiling Hoist Track System
The XY ceiling hoist track system, also known as an H-frame system, is a versatile and efficient solution to facilitate transfers. The XY system consists of two fixed parallel tracks running along the ceiling, with a movable track suspended between them. This configuration allows the hoist to move along both the X and Y axes, providing full coverage of the room, and allowing for seamless transfers and maximum flexibility in space utilization.
The XY ceiling hoist track system was implemented in key areas, including:
- Customer engagement rooms
- Early intervention room
- Gymnasium
- Changing places facility
Functionality
- Full Room Coverage: The XY system enables transfers to any area within the room, leaving no space out of bounds.
- Flexibility: It allows for changes in room layout or furniture placement without compromising functionality.
- Multiple Transfer Points: Ideal for rooms with various transfer locations, such as treatment rooms or therapy spaces.
Benefits and Features
Versatility and Adaptability
The Luna ceiling hoist's dual functionality as both fixed and portable makes it an ideal choice for the diverse needs of Ability WA's clients. This versatility allows staff to easily adapt the system to different rooms and lifting requirements, enhancing the overall efficiency of care delivery.
Therapeutic Applications
In the therapy gym, the Luna ceiling hoist plays a crucial role in assisting with transfers and physical rehabilitation. It enables therapists to conduct a wide range of exercises, including strength, balance, and functional training, in a safe and controlled environment.
With its generous 2200mm strap length, the hoist allows clients to be comfortably positioned and lifted from the floor, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience throughout their rehabilitation journey.
An integrated weigh scale offers therapists precise and current measurements of their clients, ensuring they have access to reliable data for effective treatment planning and progress tracking.
Design and Functionality
The Luna's innovative Scandinavian design, coupled with its adaptable installation options, makes it a popular choice for various healthcare environments. Its sleek appearance complements the modern aesthetic of the Murdoch hub while providing robust functionality.
Collaborative Approach
Unicare Health collaborated closely with MKDC Design Consultants for the project's design phase, ensuring that the ceiling hoist systems seamlessly integrated with the overall architectural vision.
We also worked in tandem with Shape Australia for the installation process, aligning our work with their fitout schedule to minimize disruptions and optimize efficiency.
