Every year, Unicare Health supports Cancer Council’s fundraising efforts by hosting Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
The Cancer Council is Australia’s leading cancer charity working across every aspect of every cancer, from research to prevention and support.
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is Cancer Council Australia’s most popular fundraising event and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia. It is an opportunity for friends, family and workmates to come together, share a cuppa and some delicious food, whilst helping those affected by cancer.
The funds raised from morning teas across Australia helps the Cancer Council provide much-needed support services for people impacted by cancer. It also provides funding for life-saving cancer research and state-wide education and prevention programs to empower our community to reduce their cancer risk.
This year, we decided to host a Biggest Morning Tea party at our seating seminar, to raise money for life-saving cancer research and to thank our allied health partners for working tirelessly with us to support those fighting the cancer battle – in hospital, at home, in the community and through palliative care.
Occupational therapists and physiotherapists who work with us to provide cancer patients with equipment, play a significant role in enabling them to go about their daily activities, including caring for their children, returning to work, and interacting with others.
Through our work supporting cancer patients with equipment, we know that cancer never rests and often witness the harsh realities it brings.
The pandemic has caused a 76% drop in Cancer Council’s critical funding, for vital cancer research, prevention programs and support services. This has made it an especially challenging year for those living with cancer.
We are glad to have hosted this fundraising morning tea to raise the awareness of cancer and much needed funds for Australians living with cancer. It also provided a great opportunity for occupational therapists and physiotherapists in Perth to socialise, enjoy some delicious morning tea treats and pledge their support to those who are struggling to fight the cancer battle.
We trust that our donations will make a difference to those who need it the most.
