Product Overview

The Ansa Alova Contoured Pressure Care Cushion is a viscoelastic foam wheelchair cushion designed to provide advanced pressure redistribution and pelvic support for individuals at medium to high risk of pressure injuries. It is commonly used by wheelchair users, older adults, and people with limited mobility, reduced sensation, or a history of skin breakdown, where prolonged sitting can place significant pressure on the sacral and ischial areas. The anatomically contoured design, including a coccyx cut-out and slight posterior tilt, helps redistribute body weight, reduce peak pressure over bony prominences, and minimise forward sliding, while supporting improved pelvic positioning and sitting stability. The ALOVA® viscoelastic material increases contact area to lower pressure concentration, while its breathable polyurethane properties assist with temperature regulation and moisture control during extended use. Occupational therapists typically prescribe this type of cushion for long-term seating, pressure injury prevention, and postural support in both clinical and community settings, particularly when a user requires a balance of pressure care and positioning without complex custom seating systems.
